By the end of this course, you will have a completed 9-block mini quilt. You will be responsible for your own materials from the get-go. SESSION 1- You will NEED - 3 different colors and/or patterns of 100% cotton fabric. Look for "fat quarters" at your local fabric store. and if you have any other 100% cotton scraps or a "jelly roll" it couldn't hurt to bring them. After Session 1 - You will NEED- a cutting mat, rotary cutters, quilting clear square ruler, backing, and binding fabrics. ( Barb will tell you more about these items after the first session, and we might have some items to use at the Makerspace for member use) Sewing Machines- If you have a fully functional and portable sewing machine feel free to bring it in to class to use for familiarity, if not, no worries we have sewing machines here at the Space. You will need access to a sewing machine for your homework outside of class, if you don't have access to a machine you can get a day pass and use the sewing machines here at the Space. I have done some informal teaching, leading a friend from start to finish through a lap-sized quilt, and have made an informal quilt tutorial on YouTube for a particularly tricky technique on a National Quilt Museum BOM because no one could find any resources and they were stuck. I have had leadership/teaching experience through my church and through my work as a nurse."
